HP ProCurve 1700 Series Switches

HP ProCurve 1700 Switches

While “stealthy” may be an adjective more commonly associated with things like fighter jets, ninjas and majestic feline hunters, it can also be used to describe HP ProCurve 1700 switches. One reason that HP 1700 managed switches can be considered “stealthy” is that they offer silent operation. This is possible because the design of the 1700 switches does not require the inclusion of a fan. This stealthy, fan-less operation makes ProCurve 1700 switches ideal for use in enterprise IT environments requiring open space deployments. Another adjective that can be used to describe HP ProCurve 1700 switches is “simple.” This is because HP 1700 series switches feature an intuitive web interface which is easy-to-use for purposes such as switch configuration, monitoring and administration. Furthermore, certain features such as an integrated HP ProCurve manager and Layer 2 switching capabilities such as VLAN support and tagging, allow 1700 series switches to provide your data center with enhanced networking capabilities without adding any stressful complications.

Since we have “stealthy” and “simple” on the list, we really should add “flexible.” One easy way to show that HP ProCurve 1700 switches are flexible is to point out that the series offers two different models, the 1700-8 (J9079A) and the 1700-24 (J9080A). While these 2 HP 1700 switch models share many of the same features, they also have many different features that make one type of 1700 switch better suited for a different type of enterprise IT environment than the other. Additionally, both HP ProCurve 1700 switch models offer options that allow them to be further custom-configured to your needs - making them even more flexible to the beck and call of your data center. And while we’re sticking to the easy path, the easiest way to differentiate between the 1700-8 and the 1700-24 is that the 1700-8 features 8 ports while the 1700-24 features 24 ports. So stealthy, simple and flexible….what’s not to love?
