The Dell PowerEdge R710 improves upon the Dell server technologies of the past to offer an advanced, fully optimized 2U rack server ideal for the mission critical applications of enterprise environments. Equipped with the latest technologies, the PowerEdge R710 features an Intel Xeon processor from the 5500 or 5600 series, with a processor core option of 4 or 6 cores for maximum scalability and performance. The R710 also offers an increased memory capacity, with 18 Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) slots for a maximum of up to 192 Gigabytes (GB) of memory, as well as enhanced I/O bandwidth with a combination of 4 embedded Network Interface Cards (NICs) and 4 Peripheral Component Interconnect-Express (PCI- E) Generation 2 ports. All of these features enable the Dell R710 to offer speedy virtualization deployment by means of embedded hypervisors, which lay the foundation for server virtualization to occur. Server virtualization offers such benefits as server consolidation, increased energy efficiency and overall cost savings.
