As a blade server, HP ProLiant BL460c G5 is able to offer power and reliability in an ultra-compact form factor, matching point for point the features of a standard HP 1U rack server. Configured with 1 or 2 low-power processors, the BL460c G5 uses the advanced technology, quad core Intel Xeon processors from the 5400 series with benefits such as low watt offerings and an expanded cache size. The BL460c G5 also features 2 mezzanine I/O slots, which when combined with either hot plug Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or the lower cost option of Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard drives provide a wide range of options for server blade configuration and deployment. As a result, the BL460c G5 is well-suited for a variety of applications including performance sensitive network infrastructure services, corporate infrastructure services, low-end High Performance Computing (HPC) and many more multi-tiered enterprise applications. With this wide of an application range, HP BL460c G5 blade servers are ideal for mid-sized to large data centers in enterprise environments, regardless of whether they are centralized or remote.

The BL460c G5 is equipped with a multitude of advanced technologies to not only keep up, but actually exceed the competition. Some of those cutting edge features include advanced memory functions such as mirrored memory and memory interleaving, as well as multi-functional Network Interface Card (NIC) cards and multiple I/O cards. Also equipped with embedded RAID capabilities through Smart Array E200i controllers and optional virtual medial functionality, as well as an optional battery-backed write cache, the BL 460c G5 is able to achieve high availability. Built upon an HP BladeCenter infrastructure, the ProLiant BL460c G5 has a memory capacity of up to 64 Gigabytes (GB), or 32 GB using low power modules, allowing the HP blade server to avoid potential bottlenecks and ensure exceptional fault tolerance. Even with all of these technologies and options, the BL460c G5 remains a cost-effective enterprise-class ProLiant blade server options.
