The HP ProLiant DL380 Generation 6 (G6) server is built upon proven rack server architecture, enabling its existence as the most energy-efficient rack server in the industry. In fact, the DL380 G6 set the standards for Energy Star server compliance, as well as meeting several other energy standards including Climate Savers Computing Gold and 80+ Gold. Offering a dense 2U form factor, the DL380 G6 is designed to meet and exceed the needs of enterprise IT environments with exceptional flexibility and performance as well as simplified, proactive management. Thus, not only energy efficient but power and space efficient as well, the DL380 G6 can be configured with up to 2 Intel Xeon 5500 series or 5600 series processors featuring an option of 4 or 6 cores. When utilizing the full 2 processor capacity, the DL 380 G6 has the capacity for up to 192 Gigabytes (GB) of Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) Registered Dual In-Line Memory Module (RDIMM) memory or 48 GB of DDR3 Unregistered Dual In-Line Memory Module (UDIMM) memory.

Additional features that make the ProLiant DL380 G6 such as powerful 2U HP rack server include a standard internal drive support of up to 8 Small Form Factor (SFF) hot plug drives for Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or up to 6 Large Form Factor (LFF) drives for either SAS or Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA). Also featuring fully redundant hot plug fans and up to 6 Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCI-E) slots, the DL380 G6 is equipped with such powerful monitoring and management tools as HP Integrated Lights Out (iLO) and HP Insight control, which when combined with Dynamic Power Capping allows for a capacity increase of up to 3x its former capacity. On top of all of these advantageous standard features, the HP DL380 G6 also features beneficial optional features such as the integration of hypervisors including VMware 3 virtualization and Citrix XenSever virtualization.
