IBM BladeCenter HS22

Offering exceptional performance at a price that won’t break your bank account (or your company’s, which we’re assuming is considerably larger), HS22 blade servers provide enhanced power utilization and efficiency over previous generations of IBM BladeCenter servers. With many points of improvement in regards to design, management tools and optional features, one way that HS22 servers have been enhanced is through the utilization of up to 2 Intel Xeon 5600 or 5500 series processors. These processors are able to provide IBM HS22 servers with an increased processor performance, decreased system power requirements, and a larger cache size, resulting in a high transaction processing speed. They even allow BladeCenter HS22 servers to have a faster rate of execution for concurrent multimedia services. Additionally, HS22 blade servers integrate advanced RAID-0, -1 and -1E capabilities, which enables a higher level of system availability as well as increased data protection.

Equipped with up to 192 Gigabytes (GB) of energy-efficient Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) memory, IBM BladeCenter HS22 servers offer further energy efficiency with a choice of either 1.5 V memory or 1.35 V memory, which is much more power efficient. In addition to efficient memory, HS22 server blades provide a large memory capacity and a fast one as well, running 2 Dual In-line Memory Modules (DIMMs) for each memory channel at a speed of 133 Megahertz (MHz).  Another way HS22 servers are advantageous are through their ability to support either hot swappable Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disk drives or Solid State Drives as well as hot swappable storage bays, making disk drive replacement quick and easy, with minimum downtime. One other way that IBM HS22 servers are able to minimize downtime is through management and diagnostic tools such as light path diagnostics and Predictive Failure Analysis, which are designed to detect the failure of a component before it even happens – Minority Report-style.
