IBM BladeCenter HS22V Servers

IBM BladeCenter servers are built upon proven IBM X Architecture, and the HS22V blade servers are no exception to the history of high-performance, resilience and flexibility. HS22V servers have been specifically designed for use in virtualized environments, and are well-suited for compute-intensive environments as well. Some of the features of HS22V blade servers that make them ideal for virtualization are exceptional Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance and optimal memory capacity. The high memory capacity is a result of 18 Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) slots, which can support up to 288 Gigabytes (GB) of Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) memory. This allows the blade servers within the HS22V series to fit a larger number and size of virtual machines per server blade – HS22V servers can actually fit up to 50% more virtual machines than previous generations! All of these virtualization applications are made possible through an embedded hypervisor, which allows for the deployment of 3^rd party virtualization software.

There are many other advantages of the HS22V blade server series, resulting from the design and integrated hardware and software. For instance, BladeCenter HS22V servers can support 2 Intel Xeon processors from the 5500 or 5600 series, whether they are advanced, standard, basic or low voltage. Additionally, HS22V servers can be equipped with up to 2 Solid State Drives (SSD), as well as being able to support every type of BladeCenter chassis, no matter if they are enterprise or office class chassis. IBM HS22V servers can also support up to 4 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports, or 8 ports of virtual I/O to individual server blades, which is enabled by means of the IBM BladeCenter’s virtual fabric. When it comes to software, HS22V blade servers are provided with 24/7 remote management capabilities for both physical and virtual IT resources through management tools such as IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager, which is focused on managing the energy efficiency of the HS22V server blade - and higher energy efficiency means lower operational costs.
