IBM BladeCenter HX5

As a member of the IBM BladeCenter family, HX5 blade servers offer the same proven performance and resilience, but with the enhancement of innovative 5th generation IBM X Architecture technology. HX5 blade servers provide higher density computing power as well as enhanced memory capacity, making it ideal for memory-rich applications. IBM HX5 servers are also well-suited for data base and virtualization environments, since their high memory capacity allows for a greater number and size of virtual machine per server blade. With its high scalability and MAX5 memory expansion module, BladeCenter HX5 servers can expand upon their already large memory capacity all the way up to 640 Gigabytes (GB), without having to add additional Central Processing Units (CPUs) or software licenses. Additionally, in a double-wide form factor, HX5 servers can scale up to 4 Intel Xeon E7-4800 or E7-2800 series processors for optimal utilization of the IBM blade server’s computing capacity.

IBM BladeCenter HX5 servers can save clients both time and money with the ability to reduce qualification time by means of standardizing 2 or 4 socket server requirements on the same system. In addition, the Intel Xeon processors provide the HX5 blade server with a higher performance per watt, and rapid deployment of systems for workload optimization. Other features of these BladeCenter servers that provide advantages for the client’s wallet include flexible node partitioning, which provides HX5 servers with the ability to pay for expansion later when it is needed rather than requiring the client to buy a large system all at once for the benefit of a potential future need. On top of these value-adding, investment-protecting features, BladeCenter HX5 blade servers are equipped with management tools such as IBM Systems Director, which enables easy, remote management of the IBM server blade from a single, graphical console, and automatic node failover, which allows for maximum system uptime.
