IBM System x3550 M3

Configured as a dense, compact 1U rack server, the IBM System x3550 M3 provides 2x the performance of previous generations with the latest Intel Xeon processor technology. Specifically from the 5600 series, these Intel Xeon processors are available in 4 or 6 core configurations. Since the IBM Systemx 3550 M3 can be configured with up to 2 processors, they are able to offer extreme processing power as well as higher speeds, allowing for increased productivity. Also offering an increased memory capacity, the x3550 M3 rack server can provide a maximum of 192 Gigabytes (GB) Registered Dual In-line Memory Modules (RDIMMs) of new generation Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) memory, or a maximum of 48 GB Unbuffered Dual In-line Memory Modules (UDIMMs) of DDR3 memory.  Another way that IBM System x3550 M3 utilizes new technologies is through the integration of VMware ESXi hypervisor architecture, which is available with an optional 2 GB Universal Serial Bus (USB) key to allow for server virtualization.

In addition to being equipped with innovative, new technologies, the IBM System x 3550 M3 is also highly energy-efficient and is compliant with both 80PlUS and EnergyStar standards. One way that this System x rack server is able to meet these standards is through the integration of low wattage components, such as the option of UDIMM memory which consumes less power than RDIMM. These low-power design features result in improved performance per watt and a reduction of system power requirements. Not only is the IBM System x3550 M3 highly power-optimized, it is also designed to effectively manage that power. Equipped with powerful systems management tools, the System x3550 M3 server features advanced diagnostics and comprehensive resource control from a single point. By effectively managing its energy, this particular IBM rack server is able to provide a higher ease of deployment and integration, as well as serviceability and manageability.
